On demand Webcast featuring transosseous equivalent rotator cuff repair

December 11, 2009 - December 11, 2009

On Friday, December 11th, Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, Walter G. Stanwood, MD gave a live webcast presentation of a transosseous equivalent rotator cuff repair procedure from Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Dr. Stanwood used ArthroCare Sports Medicine developed technologies, the Doubleplay anchor, medially, and the SpeedScrew implant, laterally. Doubleplay is a novel suture anchor device for sports medicine related surgical applications, unique in design and material. It is a full thread anchor and features an “eyeless” design which eliminates risk of eyelet breakage. The Doubleplay is made from Bilok, the first composite in Sports Medicine with clinically proven osteoconductivity and replacement by the bone. SpeedScrew, the only screw-in knotless implant on the market, is a next-generation, fully threaded Opus AutoCuff implant designed to enable superior arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs. The 5.5mm fully threaded design locks securely within the bone to maximize fixation strength and helps prevent the possibility of anchor “pull-back” by achieving bone lock prior to suture lock. The device’s independent tensioning feature allows the surgeon to tension suture limbs either individually or together, to evenly distribute pressure on the tendon to footprint area.
